2026 Pat Morelock Memorial $500 Scholarship

Here is a small part of our recipient’s essay. It really hits home for us and speaks volumes on what we’re about. It’s worth sharing!
The Hendricks County Horseman’s Club gave me my first horse show, my first fall, my first ribbon, and my first taste of real responsibility when younger riders started looking to me. It gave me coaches who believed in me before I believed in myself, and it gave me the chance to become a chance to build the next generation of riders as I help them learn the lessons I did through the club. I am not the same six-year-old who nervously rode Eddy into the arena years ago, but I would not be who I am today, a future equine veterinarian, a mentor, and a leader, without the community that made me the rider I am. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be considered for this scholarship, and I hope to carry the values this club taught me into every part of my future.
2026 Lori G Wright Sportsmanship Award
Congratulations to Morgen Langdon!
The winner of this award is nominated by our membership and then voted on by the board. Sophia Abbott and her family nominated this award winner! She Sophia’s “big barn sis” she has helped Sophia over the years excel as a rider and is always cheering her on and giving her tips to become a better rider. Morgen and onyx have become an incredible team over the last few years and it’s been amazing to watch Morgen transform as a rider to being more concerned about her relationship with Onyx and how they are becoming better as a team rather than placings and points. She has really helped Sophia to pursue that kind of attitude as well and we are so grateful to have her as our girls mentor and role model.
2026 Helping Hand Award
This award is handed out by the HCHC Board. We watch each year throughout our season to see who’s helping! This year, hands down THE MILLER FAMILY, KENT MALLORY, MADALYN AND KRISTEN are the winners of the Helping Hand Award – Kent is a one of our new board members and when we got Kent we got the whole family!! They have all been a huge help in setting up and running our shows this year and some in the past too. We are so grateful and blessed to have them all! Thank you Miller Family!!
